Microneedling | Oakview Dermatology

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a method of inducing a controlled  injury into the skin's dermal & epidermal junction which induces growth factors, new collagen and elastin. This process causes much less damage to the epidermis than dermal rolling, lasers or any other ablative treatment. By protecting the skin's cell growth, there is quicker healing and higher rates of success.

Types of Microneedling

At Oakview Dermatology we offer two types of microneedling procedures.

  • Collagen P.I.N. - A sterile needle-tip containing 12 to 36 tiny micro-needles is attached to the Collagen P.I.N. ™. Your skincare professional will apply a thin layer of topical serum to your skin and select the appropriate treatment depth based on your unique needs. Next, in a single motion, the Collagen P.I.N. will be gently glided across the skin in one direction until the entire treatment area has been covered. This results in thousands of microscopic channels throughout the entire treatment area.

  • Cutera Secret RF - (only available in our Athens Location) Secret RF is a novel fractional radio frequency (RF) micro-needling system for tissue coagulation and hemostasis designed to stimulate and remodel collagen and address the common signs of aging. It is ideally suited for use on patients who wish to revitalize and refresh the appearance of their skin on all skin types. By adjusting the micro-needles, Secret RF can deliver energy at various depths, so that treatments can be tailored to address each patient’s individual concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, photoaging and striae at the depth required.
