Dr. Sammons

Dawn Sammons, D.O.

Board Certified Dermatologist
Dermatology Residency Director

Dr. Dawn Sammons is a 2003 graduate of Ohio University's College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her dermatology residency in June of 2008. She is an associate clinical professor at Ohio University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. She has lived in Southeast Ohio for over 20 years and is pleased to be able to serve the communities in this area.

Dr. Sammons is devoted to the study and treatment of all dermatologic diseases of the skin, hair, and nails. She has a particular interest in skin cancer and dermatologic surgery. Our state of the art office equipment allows for us to do all but the most complicated dermatologic surgeries in-house, under local anesthesia. In addition, we are also pleased to offer photo-dynamic therapy for the treatment of actinic keratoses and laser therapy for hair removal and vein therapy.


Shannon Trotter, D.O.

Board Certified Dermatologist

Dr. Trotter received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Dayton and graduated from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006.  In 2010, she completed her dermatology residency training at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital followed by a fellowship in cutaneous oncology at Boston University.

In addition to working with Oakview Dermatology, Dr. Trotter is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Ohio State University Division of Dermatology and serves as Director of the Pigmented Lesion Clinic at the James Comprehensive Cancer Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Trotter has given several presentations and published articles on various topics in dermatology. She has also received several awards, including the Boston University Department of Dermatology Humanism in Medicine Award. Dr. Trotter also enjoys teaching and mentoring medical students and residents. Her special interests include skin cancer, psoriasis, and public health.



Stephen D'Addario

Stephen D'Addario, M.D.

Board Certified Dermatologist,
MOHS Micrographic Surgeon

Dr. Stephen D’Addario joined Oakview Dermatology in March of 2013 to provide MOHS micrographic surgery to the Athens area . He obtained his medical degree from State University of New York. He went on to complete his residency for dermatology  at University of Arkansas and shortly after became Board Certified in Dermatology. From there, Stephen performed a fellowship at the Dermatologic SurgiCenter in Philadelphia, PA. There, he became versed in procedural Dermatology and MOHS Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology. His specialization areas include skin cancer and MOHS micrographic surgery.


Nathan Misel

Nathan Misel, PA-C

Dermatology Physician Assistant

Nathan Misel joined our team in October of 2008 and has been a valuable asset to our organization for many years. He graduated from Marietta College with a master's degree in Physician Assistant studies in 2007. He did clinical training in multiple areas of specialty medicine, including Dermatology. Prior to joining our team, Nathan spent time working in a private dermatology office and a local ER. Nathan sees patients in our Athens and Belpre offices and enjoys caring for those in his community.


Adriana Walsh, PA-C

Dermatology Physician Assistant

Adriana Walsh joined Oakview Dermatology in 2011, bringing with her 7 years of medical and cosmetic Dermatology experience from her previous practice in Tallahassee, Florida. She graduated from the University of Florida in 2004 with her Master of Physician Assistant Studies.  She is a current member of the Society of Dermatological Physician Assistants and has completed several training conferences relating but not limited to skin cancer and the screening process. Adriana’s true passion lies within diagnosing skin cancer and treating it at its earliest stage. She is eager to build new relationships and offer her Dermatology services to the community of Athens and surrounding area.


Christina Johnson

Christina Johnson, PA-C

Dermatology Physician Assistant

Christina Johnson is from Parkersburg, WV and graduated from Marietta College in 2012 with a master's degree in Physician Assistant studies. Prior to joining Oakview Dermatology, Christina worked in Morgantown, WV as a hospitalist Physician Assistant. Upon joining our practice, Christina completed an extensive Dermatology training program under Dr. Sammons. She is excited to be back in her home town and looks forward to serving her local community.


Stephen D'Addario

Arica Taylor, PA-C

Dermatology Physician Assistant

Arica Taylor joined Oakview in October of 2015. She graduated from Kent State in 2011 with a degree in Biology and Pre-Medicine. She then went on to attain her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Marietta College in 2015. Arica has extensive experience, with several clinical rotations in Dermatology prior to joining Oakview. She is also a member of the Society of Dermatological Physician Assistants and the AAPA. Arica is seeing patients at our Springfield office and she looks forward to providing quality care to those in the community.

Stephen D'Addario

Chelsea Laswell, PA-C

Dermatology Physician Assistant

Chelsea started with our practice in the Fall of 2016. She attended Marshall University for undergrad where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. She then attended West Virginia University where she earned her Master of Public Health degree, followed by Marietta College for PA school. Chelsea is seeing patients in our Canal Winchester office.
