Dr. Dawn Merritt, the CMO and founder of Oakview Dermatology, is a Board Certified Dermatologist specializing in complex medical dermatology and skin cancer. 

 

She served as the Residency Program Director for the OhioHealth Dermatology Residency Program for 12 years and has recently passed the torch to the next generation of healthcare leaders.

Dr. Merritt speaks nationally several times a year on a variety of topics, she is the Medical Director for Merritt Bioscience's clinical trial program and she has numerous dermatologic publications. 

 

She was awarded one of the Top Doctors by OH Top Docs in 2023 and this past year she was named the Clinical Educator of the Year by the Fall Clinical Conference. 

 

Dr. Merritt loves spending time with her family, traveling and mentoring young physicians.

Anthony Knell is a Physician Assistant who has practiced dermatology for 18 years.  He grew up in the small town of Poca, West Virginia, near Charleston. 

 

Anthony completed his undergraduate degree at Marshall University and then proceeded to receive his Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant studies at Alderson Broaddus College. 

 

After completing his education, Anthony joined South Charleston Dermatology in South Charleston, WV where he has practiced for almost 18 years. 

 

He is a member of the SDPA (Society of Dermatology Physicians Associates) and a past medical liaison for Galderma Laboratories.  Focusing on medical and cosmetic dermatology, Anthony is dedicated to bringing his patient’s the highest tier of medical care. 

 

On his off time, he enjoys running, exercising, traveling, tennis, and most of all spending time with his 12 year old son. He currently lives in Vienna, WV is excited for his future at Oakview Dermatology.

Amber Gokkaya is originally from Northeast Louisiana, where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

 

She later relocated to Athens, Ohio, where she earned her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) from Ohio University. Additionally, Amber completed specialized training and certification in Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP) at Mount Carmel College of Nursing.

Before joining Oakview Dermatology, Amber worked as a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner, contributing to various hospital committees and co-chairing the Advanced Practice Providers Committee. This experience sharpened her skills in managing acute illnesses and coordinating care among healthcare teams.

At Oakview Dermatology, Amber initially focused on cosmetic dermatology and procedures, but her passion has since grown to include medical dermatology. She is committed to delivering high-quality care and helping patients achieve both their medical and aesthetic goals.

In her free time, Amber enjoys exploring new places and spending quality time with her family.

Mya Faris, PA-C is a board-certified Physician Assistant specializing in dermatology, with a strong commitment to providing exceptional care for her patients. A native of Southeast Ohio, Mya is passionate about making a positive impact in the communities she serves.

​

She completed her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences at Morehead State University and went on to earn her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Kentucky.

​

Mya is dedicated to providing personalized dermatologic care, focusing on empowering patients with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their skin health. She strives to build lasting relationships based on trust and open communication, ensuring each patient receives the highest level of care.

She is excited to be part of the Oakview Dermatology team and looks forward to helping patients achieve their skin health goals.
